Inclusive Intersectional Counselling Online
Let’s take a moment to acknowledge that being human is hard.
Life takes us on all sort of unexpected turns while change is slow, messy, and uncomfortable.
It's completely normal to have moments where you feel like you’re hitting a wall—unable to move forward, unsure of your direction, or generally disconnected from the life you want to live. These feelings are a natural part of being human and often signal that something needs attention or change.
The good news is, you don't have to go through this alone, and you don’t need to have all the answers right away. With genuine support, these challenging moments can become turning points—opportunities for growth, clarity, and deeper connection to yourself and others.
This is where I come in. Hello! I'm Dr. Greta Mikneviciute, a psychologist and counsellor.
My role isn't to lecture you or question your decisions, but to walk alongside you through the messiness. I won't promise you quick fixes, but I will empower you to face life's obstacles by being a supportive and collaborative teammate. Together, we’ll draw on your unique strengths and experiences to help you build new tools and find your way.
If our work together is successful, you’ll leave feeling empowered and with a clear sense of purpose and direction, both in your daily life as well as in your life path moving forward.
My Counselling Services
My practice is an inclusive space for individuals navigating life's complexities, with a focus on how your unique identity intersects with your environment.
I am here to support you with:
Navigating Identity, Belonging, and Life Transitions
You want to better manage your stress and build resilience by making use of the resources available to you.
We identify and gently process the psychological impacts of systemic stress and inherited family patterns. We explore how rigid emotional rules (like scarcity or conflict avoidance) still dictate your behavior. We then focus on building clear boundaries that allow you to reclaim your narrative and consciously break the cycle.
Whether you're leaving home, entering the job market, changing or in-between jobs, navigating a breakup/divorce, or facing other significant life shifts, I can help build a steady anchor as you move through these difficult transitions.
I support new parents navigating the profound identity change of parenthood, as well as adult children learning to relate to their aging parents.
We can work together to help you find ways to express complex and sometimes conflicting emotions related to your social roles and identities.
I counsel those who have left their social support systems behind and are adapting to new cultures and environments.
Navigating Trauma, Stress, and Systemic Injustice
I offer a safe, affirming, and anti-oppressive space for those who face systemic barriers or do not feel seen within mainstream Western healthcare. My goal is to center and honor your unique lived experience.
Cultivating Purpose, Meaning, and Connection
I support anyone seeking to understand themselves better, clarify their values, and create a more rich, fulfilling, and meaningful life.
We can explore ways for you to move from a place of loneliness and isolation toward fostering more connection and belonging in your life.

My Approach in Practice
I use a blend of person-centered approaches that I am continuously learning about:
-
My personal favorite, focuses on helping you live a more meaningful life by changing your relationship with difficult thoughts and feelings, rather than trying to get rid of them.
-
Helps you move from a state of overwhelm to a place of greater presence, grounding, and regulation. Works to help you (re-)connect with your body and release physical sensations often linked to emotional stress and trauma.
-
Based on existential philosophy, existential therapies are a spectrum of therapeutic practices helping clients acknowledge, live "in tune with", and make the most of the actuality of their existences.
-
Shifts the focus from "What's wrong with you?" to "What happened to you?" by emphasizing safety, trust, choice, collaboration, and empowerment for the client. The goal is to create a safe and validating environment that rebuilds a sense of control and empowerment for trauma survivors.
-
The systemic lens remind us that every individual is a part of a larger system. It focuses on how individual problems are connected to the broader relationships systems and power dynamics they are a part of (e.g., family, couples, work, community).
-
Seeks to challenge dominant cultural narratives that shape people's lives in destructive ways and empowers them re-write a new narrative about themselves with a renewed sense of agency.
-
I may sometimes make use of specific elements of classic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy when helpful for building concrete practical skills (e.g. mindfulness, behavioral activation, tracking moods, habits, and behaviors)
I was trained in Integrative Clinical Psychology meaning that I don't work with a one-size-fits-all approach. This integrative blend will vary for each client and is tailored to respect your specific needs, cultural background, personal beliefs, preferences and sensitivities.
Additionally, in line with the principles of ACT, I follow a strictly non-pathologizing posture that views psychological distress as a natural, functional response to pain and suffering that are inevitable in life – not a disorder to be "fixed" or eradicated.
I approach my work with humility and a deep commitment to ongoing learning. I acknowledge my own limits and the fact that I don't have all the answers.
Your experiences will always be central, helping to shape and refine my practice.
I am dedicated to unlearning biases and assumptions, ensuring that our work together is always respectful, authentic, and based on mutual trust.
What Makes INTERSECT Psych Services Unique?
Services are available in four different languages — EN, FR, IT, LT — to ensure comfort and clarity for diverse clients.
By choosing INTERSECT Psych Services you support a community-centered, inclusive practice, making psychological counseling more accessible to everyone. Clients who contribute above the minimum fee actively participate in a "pay it forward" model, helping to subsidize services for those who could otherwise not afford the minimum price. I perform a portion of my work through volunteer and community initiatives, which are made possible by these contributions.
My own journey as an immigrant coming from a post-Soviet country, who has moved several times during crucial life transitions, brings a profound empathy and understanding to the challenges of adaptation, identity, and belonging. I now understand that true belonging comes not from neglecting parts of ourselves, but from embracing and honoring all of our intersecting identities.
While I value evidence-based psychological interventions and the rigorous academic training I had the privilege to receive, I also acknowledge their limitations and criticize their misuse as tools to impose views that further oppress (marginalized) groups of people. I'm committed to honoring other ways of producing knowledge—from the collective wisdom and lived experiences of marginalized people to more holistic, ancestral, and spiritual practices—without dismissing or invalidating them.
A fierce dedication to intersectionality, using psychological knowledge as a tool for liberation, rather than pathologisation and oppression.
